In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank (Central Bank of Sweden), on the occasion of the Bank’s 300th anniversary, established a Prize in Economic Sciences in the Memory of Alferd Nobel, the founder of Nobel Prize. Sveriges Riksbank Prize follows the same principles as for the Nobel Prizes and this prize is based on the donation received by Nobel Foundation from Sveriges Riksbank.
This prize has been awarded 52 times to 86 Laureates between 1969-2020. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences is the responsible body for the selection of the Laureates in Economic Sciences.
